Vizag International Cruise Terminal: A Global Contender

While the international sailings begin in July, Visakhapatnam’s maritime prowess was already being showcased globally. In April 2026, a high-level delegation from the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) represented India at the Seatrade Cruise Global in Miami, USA.

Key Highlights of the VICT:

  • Capacity: The terminal can handle vessels with up to 2,000 passengers and crew of 700.

  • Amenities: World-class lounges, duty-free shopping (upcoming), and seamless immigration/customs counters.

  • Economic Boost: The state government expects significant revenue through an 18% GST on each cabin sold, alongside the growth of local hospitality and transport sectors.

Why This Matters for Andhra Pradesh

The initiative is a direct result of a policy push by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who insisted on developing Vizag as a primary international departure point during the recent CII summit. By establishing a viable "Cruise Circuit" (Chennai–Vizag–Singapore), the state aims to attract more global liners like Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line in the coming seasons.

Pricing & What to Expect Onboard

For those looking to book, the luxury comes at a premium but accessible price point:

  • Estimated Cost: Starting at approximately ₹10,000 per person per night.

  • Onboard Features: Multiple specialty restaurants, a grand theatre for Broadway-style shows, a casino, a swimming pool, and a luxury spa.
